These two told me they had stood on the tank with Boris Yeltson when he defied Soviet authority and took back Russia. They had been camped out in tents within the Russian White House tank barricade perimeter since then and vowed to stay put (broken sunglasses and all) until the fall of the Soviet Union -- which officially occurred six weeks later on New Years Day, 1992. |
